The program for a Master's Degree in Electromechanical Engineering Administration has graduated more than 200 professionals, supported by the commitment of the Tecnológico de Costa Rica (TEC) to promote the appropriate training of engineering professionals who can contribute to the country’s development.
It is an up-to-date program suitable for the needs of current engineers who occupy managerial, administrative and other related positions, who need a solid knowledge of both engineering and administration, and how these areas can be integrated to produce the greatest benefits for a business or other organization.
The program is offered at two campuses: Alajuela, at the Coyol Center, and San José / Cartago, with the following schedules:
- Alajuela: Thursdays and Fridays from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- San José: Fridays 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Cartago: Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon
The two areas of emphasis in this program are:
- Energy management.
- Maintenance management.
Applications and associated documentation will be received between October and December.
Objetivos
The principal objective of the program is to provide engineers with up-to-date competencies and management tools that will allow them to advance in their work through the use of technologies and administrative strategies that are integrated with modern engineering practices, contributing to the country’s technological development and promoting projects aimed at productive and economic business improvement.
Perfil profesional
The program’s efforts are aimed at strengthening the capacities of participants in three priority areas, providing high-level training to professionals responsible for the management of companies, institutions and projects. These areas are:
1. Administration
In this area, managerial administrative skills and competencies are strengthened for the optimal administration of engineering tasks, leading to improvement in worker performance and business competitiveness.
2. Project management
Education in this area is designed to provide students with modern analytical and strategic planning skills. Students will acquire the ability to develop and manage projects, and make decisions to meet the organization’s objectives.
3. Area of technical emphasis
In this area, a series of options are offered to deepen and update knowledge in the area of technical emphasis selected by students, while maintaining a focus on their managerial abilities.
The areas of technical emphasis are:
- Energy management.
- Maintenance management.
Requisitos
Submitting the admission application along with all the documents detailed are basic requirements. If the applicant is from a foreign country, they must be submitted as official translations and authenticated.
- High-school diploma (a new requirement for TEC admission and enrollment).
- University degree in engineering (copy and original for their respective verification).
- Two passport-sized photographs (actual photos, not scanned).
- Photocopy of personal identification card.
- Printed enrollment application with required information.
- Essay stating the reasons why you want to enroll in the program.
- Professional experience certifications (indicating work performed and its relationship to the program).
- Certified transcript of grades with corresponding legal fees paid.
- Personal data sheet (request from the Secretary).
The selection of those admitted is made by the School's Master's Committee.
Invesment
Cost per course: ₡245,000.
In total there are 14 2-month periods and a graduation project. One course must be taken in every 2-month period.
Duration: 2.5 years.
Criterios de selección
- Academic record of bachelor’s and / or licentiate engineering studies.
- Years of professional experience.
- Knowledge of the English language, since some of the books and materials used in the program are in that language.
- In certain cases, an applicant interview is required.
