Academic activities of the School of Mathematics, in the fields of teaching, research, outreach and social action, includes the areas of pure, applied, and educational mathematics.
Among its main functions, the School is responsible for providing the mathematical training required by the careers offered by the TEC at the Cartago campus, the San José Academic Center, the Alajuela Academic Center and the Limón Academic Center.
The School of Mathematics also offers bachelor’s and licentiate’s degrees in Mathematics Teaching in Technological Environments. The objective of these academic programs is to train professionals in the field of mathematics teaching, who can teach at the level of the third and fourth cycle of diversified education, with the ability to also work at some levels of higher education in teaching or research activities; they are also prepared to be able to incorporate the use of technology into the educational process.
